"Yahoo Pulse" and Further Facebook Tie-InDate: 8 Jun 2010 Yahoo and Facebook are to further cement their online partnership, and announced a plan yesterday which will give Facebook/Yahoo users a much deeper level of integration between the two platforms. The deal will see Facebook/Yahoo users having the option to seamlessly stream their Yahoo account (along with services like Flickr) alongside their Facebook profile. The tie-in comes in the wake of Yahoo's rebranding and remodelling of their Yahoo Profile facility - now morphing to Yahoo Pulse, giving users a much tighter grip on their privacy settings. Given Yahoo's increased push on digital media offerings to their users, a much tighter control on user privacy settings is certainly needed. This recent integration with Facebook is part of an overall partnership plan launched back in 2009 and will facilitate a much higher level of integration between its joint users. For instance, Facebook users will be able to share their Yahoo profile information, their Yahoo Answers posts and their Flickr photos to their network of friends. In the same way, Yahoo users can plug into Facebook functionality with one login. Yahoo are also branching out into the gaming industry - a partnership with online gaming company Zynga (makers of the highly successful social game titles "Farmville" and "Mafia Wars") will enable Yahoo users to access their extensive gaming network. This gaming network is due to launch later on this year. |
