New Twitter Feature - "You Both Follow"

Date: 3 Jun 2010

Twitter are testing out a new feature which is designed to help users decide if another account is worth following or not. This "You Both Follow" facility lets users see which other accounts they have in common, displaying the shared profile icons above your usual "Following" section. This feature is likely to help users figure out a bit more about their fellow Twitterers before following them. Facebook users will already be familiar with a similar feature on Facebook, where shared friends are highlighted.

The facility hasn't been launched officially - Twitter's own Nick Kallen in the engineering team has tweeted about it. He says that 10% of user accounts have this new feature enabled for now. The tool will certainly open up Twitter, allowing more integration and maybe Twitter will now start to base "following" recommendations on shared user profiles?
