Mozilla OS for Tablets

The development company behind Firefox, Mozilla have announced that they are working on an operating system for use on tablet PCs and devices.

Developer Andreas Gal announced the news on their blog

Inspiration is being taken from Android, but most of the programming will be brand new.

The project is code-named "Boot to Gecko" (Gecko is the engine behind the browser Firefox). The same engine powers Mozilla's email platform Thunderbird.

As with most Mozilla projects, stakeholders have said that the code and details will be made open source to all.
