Microsoft To Launch Kiddie Code KoduDate: 15 Jan 2010 Microsoft have announced the launch of a brand new developer language, a new form of code that can be used to create games and basic logic processes - not aimed at the thirty-something cyber geek, but at your kid sister believe it or not. Kodu is now coming to a PC near you, having been created and developed by a Microsoft engineer. Microsoft describe Kodu as "a visual programming language made specifically for creating games. It is designed to be accessible for children and enjoyable for anyone." Matt McLaurin created Kodu initially for the Xbox but has developed a version for use with a PC, which has already been integrated in 200 schools in the US. The software for the developer language can be downloaded free of charge. Microsoft are making the new language available as a preview product and are looking for as much feedback from users and developers alike before a full launch. |
