Google Update Secure Login For Gmail Users
Date: 13 Jan 2010
The safety conscious of you out there are probably already using the secure setting on your Gmail account login, but for those who aren't doing so, Google has announced that they will be setting all users account logins to the extra secure https.
The Google blog announced today that they are switching on this setting for all user accounts, as their own research and analysis suggested that this was "the right thing to do". While https can slow down a users send/receive speeds, the technology giant still believe that the increased level of security is worth it.
Google explain themselves how, "Using https helps protect data from being snooped by third parties, such as in public Wi-Fi hotspots. We initially left the choice of using it up to you because there's a downside: https can make your mail slower since encrypted data doesn't travel across the web as quickly as unencrypted data." |
