Digital Support Grows For Haiti
Date: 15 Jan 2010
The digital community are coming together to respond to the rapid growth in demand for news and information on the horrific Haiti earthquake disaster. All the major players online are working hard to deal with the massive surge in online traffic following the devastating event.
Search engine Google have set up a news page service, the Google Crisis Page, which provides real-time search information. Similarly Yahoo have set up a "Haiti Relief" logo which appears on all the Yahoo sites globally and links to a donation website. Microsoft have Bing.com linking to a variety of donations sites too. Help is coming not only by online support, but also in cash donations. Both Google and Microsoft have pledged money to help provide aid and support to the appeal - with Google pledging $1 million and Microsoft pledging $1.25 million. |
