1) How is this Different to the Free Google Alerts?
- With rare exceptions, RingJohn
delivers every clip that
Google Alerts deliver -
and many more.
- We deliver all your clips each
morning through automated email
delivery - not just selected
clips as Google News Alert
does.
- If you want, we can add specific
news sources to our
media monitoring list (if
we don't already have them) to
assure that the media most important
to you are monitored - including
industry journals.
- Every news clip we send you includes detailed
circulation data for
thorough analysis on audience
reach and market penetration.
Google News does not.
- We can offer you customised
media lists - so you
can limit news monitoring to
only those publications that
you want to monitor.
- When you subscribe, you get access
to our searchable database that
stores all your clips, making
it easier for you to manage,
sort, analyse and distribute
your clips.
- With our alert system, you can
use many more keywords in a single
search and get clips from
global news sources from a single
query. You can't with
Google.
- While it's not free, we offer
the lowest-price full-service subscription
media monitoring service available.
2) Are there news sources you don't monitor?
- RingJohn monitors virtually all
news sources that publish news
content on their Web sites.
- The exception is Web sites that
require paid subscriptions. These
include a handful of specialty
journals including some medical
and engineering journals.
- It's important to note that RingJohn
does monitor news sites that require
registration, but not paid subscription.
A few online news sites also block
automated robots, prohibiting RingJohn (& Google) from
monitoring them.
3) Will you send me the list of online media you monitor?
No. Our media list contains over 25,000 news sources and 100,000
consumer discussion sites. It's our biggest asset so we don't make
it available.
4) Can you monitor just a list of specific sites for us?
Yes. We can create a custom media list for you.
5) Does RingJohn keep a news archive enabling searches
for past articles?
No. Our news monitoring services store only our clients' clips
in a searchable database. We don't store the contents of the news
sources in an archive - and therefore cannot search for older articles.
6) How do you deliver my clips?
Daily by email. The daily email alert contains a list of all your
clips found during the previous 24 hours.
7) How accurate will my results be?
RingJohn provides clients with today's most comprehensive and
accurate news monitoring service. We run all results through a "triple
filtering" process to achieve our extraordinary accuracy and relevance.
For most clients, over 98% of delivered clips are "good clips" -
no duplicates and few if any irrelevant clips. The accuracy of
RingJohn's service is especially good for clients with difficult
search terms.
8) Is there a per clip charge?
Not for the first 1,000 clips per month. After 1,000 clips there
is an incremental charge of €60 for each
additional set of up to 500 clips.
9) How many keywords can I use?
The RingJohn service allows up to 15 keywords or multiword phrases
per search. A phrase counts as a single key word. "And Not" words
do not count toward the 15 word limit.
10) How do I change my keywords?
Contact us to have your keywords changed at any time
11) Can I get only "important" clips of "major articles" delivered?
Yes! As an optional service, we can monitor only articles that
include significant coverage of your company, brand, or other keywords,
ignoring/deleting "mere mentions". You can also specify that the
articles be clipped only from the media sources you list.
12) Is a long-term contract required?
No. You're free to cancel at any time after the first 30 days
of service.
13) How long does it take to start the service?
Usually 24 hours
14) How does your service compare to Factiva or Lexis-Nexis?
Factiva and Lexis-Nexis are designed primarily as archival information
services, not as media monitoring services. As such, they are the
preferred services to conduct legal or market intelligence research
to find previously-published articles on specific subjects.
They are not great if you need a media monitoring tool to deliver
all articles containing specific key words in a timely fashion
from as many news sources as possible.
15) Do you offer customisation of services.
Yes
