Getting High Rankings in Google and Yahoo

Search engines are the name of the Internet game.

Nearly every web browser has used a search engine to reach the library of information the Library of Internet is known to have. As we all know, using search engines require that you insert a keyword or phrase into a search box. Upon clicking submit, you are led to a database of relevant information and a collection of websites. Search engines are specifically engineered to sort out websites in their systems by the repetition of keywords within the websites.

The secret to ranking high in Yahoo! and Google depend on how well keywords are thrown into your website. Each search engine has their own criteria for determining the relevancy of websites, but keyword incorporation is the #1 determinant of a high spot. Remember, millions of websites may share your same keyword to ranking high above all is paramount. Most web browsers stick to the first page when searching, rarely do they go into the 3rd and 4th pages. The higher a website ranks in the search engines, the higher its relevance.

Most search engines use a point system to assign various websites based on their own criteria. The page is graded using the following: keyword area, frequency of keyword, total words, keyword weight, keyword prominence, and site popularity. We will briefly explain each one and their meaning.

Keyword Area - a high ranking website on the search engines must follow through on strategically placing their keyword in the site to generate searches. A webpage with the keyword in the Title will rank higher than those with the keyword in the existing content. Search engines scour web pages for proper keyword placement (i.e. at the beginning of paragraphs, headings, link texts, on the title tag) to determine its relevancy.

Keyword Frequency - search engines want sites loaded (to a reasonable extent) with keywords to rank atop. However, many search engines are penalizing webmasters for spamming their keyword into the content too much, disqualifying them. On Elance.com, an outsourcing site with plenty of freelance writers, these writers are hired by individuals to create web content plentiful with keywords under strict keyword guideline rules.

Remember, a website overloaded with keywords is spamming. For example, a barbecue grill website that has "Enjoy the mouth watering scent a Weber barbecue grill (King of all barbecue grills) will provide you with its barbecue grilling system which is an improvement over 90% of barbecue grills in Wyoming, the barbecue grilling capital of the world - will be automatically disqualified. Don’t make it blatantly obvious that you’re attempting to spam and you’ll be fine.
